16. Though Keswick referred to certain omissions in the Estimates, he did not question their respective amounts, which I addressed.
And a small public meeting, that is to say, a meeting of about thirty gentlemen at the City Hall, on the 28th of August, supported my grant of $12,000 to the Income of the City.
At this meeting, he gave his version of the question, omitting, however, some material facts. He frequently published Reports in which he said, "In order that the public may fully understand what has been done with reference to this matter, it has been deemed advisable to attach to this Report a copy of all the correspondence that has taken place on the subject between the 19th of September 1879 and the 10th of August 1880."
